My youngest daughter is getting her four wisdom teeth taken out this morning.
Once upon a time we needed these late-erupting molars, back when dinosaur meat was on the menu. But now, with our smaller jaws, there’s not enough room for them in our mouths, so the wise thing to do is take them out.
Unless ChatGPT is making this up, about 10 million wisdom teeth are extracted in the US each year, generating over $3 billion in healthcare costs annually.
If you were to line up all 10 million teeth in a straight line, I have no idea how long it would be, but it would be kinda gross and not very wise at all.
Maybe I should have kept my wisdom teeth in, after all.

I’ll share my commentary next week.
Have a meaningful weekend!
