A New Perspective on Dedicated Transportation

Dedicated transportation is getting a lot of attention these days from both shippers and 3PLs. Historically, companies have used dedicated fleets in very specific lanes, where shipment volumes are very predictable and consistent, and where service is very important. And companies have traditionally viewed dedicated as “an exception” or a “special case” – that is, separate from the rest of their transportation operations. Is that still the case today or are companies starting to view and leverage dedicated fleets differently — and if so, how?

In this episode, Daniel McHugh, VP of Business Development at Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, addresses this question and others related to the important role dedicated transportation is playing in enabling companies to implement more flexible and responsive transportation networks.
