If everything has gone according to plan, by the time you read this, David Shaw from Transporeon and I will have completed a 100 kilometer ride around Amsterdam and are in the process of enjoying a stroopwafel — a traditional Dutch treat made of two thin, crispy waffle layers filled with a sweet, gooey caramel syrup.
If everything goes according to plan, this will be the third time we have ridden together as part of Transporeon Summit; we did similar long rides together in London in 2022 and Vienna in 2024. David is part of my Logistics Leaders for 1D Cure team, which raises money in support of Breakthrough T1D, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to research and advocacy for type 1 diabetes. Our team has raised over $50K so far this year, which is great, but short of our $75K goal. The good news: it’s not too late to support the team and cause! I’m doing one more 100 mile ride next month. You can add fuel to my legs and wind to my back by making a donation here: http://www2.breakthrought1d.org/goto/ll4t1dcure. No donation is too small; every dollar gets us closer to a cure.
If everything goes according to plan, I will share pics from today’s metric century next week. In the meantime, here’s the supply chain and logistics news that caught my attention this week:
- Trump announces a 25% tariff on heavy-duty trucks and a 30% tariff on furniture (CNN)
- EU advancing in trade agreement talks with Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, trade chief says (Reuters)
- Canada and Mexico agree to deepen ties amid Trump trade war (BBC)

Since I am still in Amsterdam and have to get ready for my trip back home tomorrow (and maybe get another stroopwafel before I go) , I will share my commentary next week.
And with that, have a meaningful weekend!
