Above the Fold: Supply Chain Logistics News (April 25, 2025)

It’s Spring Break for my youngest daughter, who is a junior in high school. We have spent the week on the road, visiting a few colleges, going on tours, while I do tuition math silently in my head.

Along the way, we are visiting her older brothers in Delaware and Maryland, where we are this morning before we start our journey back home.

Yesterday, we also visited the pandas at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. There I stood in the middle of a big group watching one of the pandas eating bamboo and an apple. Or from the panda’s perspective, “I had my lunch while I watched those loud two-legged animals trapped behind a fence.”

I wonder if a little Panda diplomacy could help resolve this tariff war? What animal would we send to China to thaw relations? Do we have a native animal (other than a New York City rat eating pizza) that is as cute and playful as a panda? I can’t think of any right now, but I have a few hours to come up with one during my long drive home.

In the meantime, here is the supply chain and logistics news that caught my attention this week:

This is Week 17 (or more) of tariffs dominating the news. Read the linked articles above before they become outdated, which they could be by now.

And now, it’s time to pack the car, fill the car with gas, and hit the road again. I’ll share my commentary next week.

Have a meaningful weekend!
