Above the Fold: Supply Chain Logistics News (November 14, 2025)

I’m writing this high above the clouds, somewhere between Syracuse, NY and Boston, as the sun rises.

I’m on my way back home after presenting yesterday at the 76th Annual Salzburg Memorial Lecture Program at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. My talk was on AI in Transportation Management, where I shared some insights from research we conducted earlier this year with members of our Indago supply chain research community and Uber Freight customers (see “AI In Logistics: Already Here, Just Not Evenly Distributed”).

Overall, it was a fun and productive day of learning and networking. I especially enjoyed speaking with the students during the receptions. They asked me very thoughtful questions on a variety of topics: How can we trust the decisions made by AI agents? Will AI erode human creativity? How do I see tariffs and geopolitical risks affecting the role of Vietnam in global supply chains? How and why did I become an entrepreneur?

(I get that last question a lot from students and young professionals, which is why I shared my thoughts about it more than a decade ago in “The Right Time To Become An Entrepreneur.”)

In short, I came away from the event feeling confident that the future of supply chain management is in good hands with these thoughtful and engaged future leaders.

Moving on, here’s the supply chain and logistics news that caught my attention this week:

Since I’m still in the air and not fully awake yet (my alarm went off at 4 am and I’m still uncaffeinated), I will share my takeaways next week.

Have a meaningful weekend!
